Describing Sites

walkthrough2.gif

A "site" is the premises whose energy performance is to be assessed. Each site is defined by its Parts:

  • A site can comprise a single part which can be one part of a building or a whole single building, or

  • A site can be made up of more than one part. Multi-part sites can represent the different uses of a single building or a collection of buildings eg on a campus.

From the Site page you define each part(s) of the Site. For each Part, first you choose its building sector and then you define its sub-sector and size.

Next you can describe any special energy uses on the site. These are energy uses which are not included in the benchmark energy use for the type of building, and which would not normally be expected for the type of building. If the quantity of special energy use is known it can then be excluded from the benchmarking of the building's operational rating energy use and carbon dioxide emissions.

Finally on the Site page, you select the year for which you want to enter energy data. The energy performance of a site can be assessed for different years: the Site Year.

The EPLabel Online system takes care of calculating most of the factors required to do the benchmarking calculations directly from the information you provide. Climate, size conversion to common units and energy weighting factors are all included in the final calculation.
