Defining Energy Use
On the Site Year page, you should enter the energy use over a 365 day year for the whole site from every applicable source ie electricity, fuels or thermal supplies.
Energy supplies should include offsite and onsite renewable sources like photovoltaics.
At the top of the page you can enter text which describes the site year or any comments which relate to it.
If available, you can also enter heating (and in some countries cooling) climate indices which define the local climate for the building during the year for which the energy data was measured. This allows the energy data to be adjusted to the long-term average climate for that building.
After the site energy use has been defined you can enter the amount of each energy source that is used for special purposes, if applicable.
You should also answer the question of whether there is CHP or ‘other fuel substitution’ (eg absorption chillers or electric heating) on the site. If you answer ‘no’ then EPLabel Online produces a separate analysis of the electrical and non-electrical energy use by the site.
If there has been any assessment of the site’s Indoor Environmental Quality, it is possible to register a summary result on the energy certificate. This is to recognise that a good building energy performance should not be achieved at the expense of the conditions provided for its occupants.
Finally the user must choose the energy weighting factors to be used by the EPLabel Online analysis. National and EU average weighting factors are available based on carbon dioxide, primary energy, energy cost or national policy. Alternatively, you can select to enter ‘local’ weighting factors if the site is using energy sources not available nationally eg a local district heating plant.
After all the Site Year data are entered, the analysis is done.
